Take Your Marketing Offline and Connect “IRL”
It’s no secret that millennials prefer to invest in experiences. And as the trends for working remotely, networking online and plugging into a podcast rather than chatting with our co-commuters, we are craving connection In Real Life (“IRL”). Research has proven that millennials are happiest when they feel connected and they do not hold back when it comes to spending on their personal development.
Yet it isn’t always easy to find the experiences they crave. With a slew on online resources and every ad leading to another online course, it can be a daunting task to find quality events that specifically support millennials looking to grow their success. Fear not, friends! I’ve done the research for you…

“I first Attended BTS 4 days after quitting my 5 year corporate role as a system engineer for a large corporation. I was 27 and I was lost, confused, and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I had followed what everyone told me “success” looked like for years and even though I had a great title, good pay, and a growing career, it left me unhappy, unfulfilled, and seeking more in life. Amazing how much 5 days can drastically change you. Now (less than 2 years later), I own a 7-figure coaching business, travel the world as a speaker, and have a team of 5 others all working to change and fix the major problems we see in the world… None of this would be possible without Jack and BTS.”- Zander Fryer, Founder of Sh*t You Don’t Learn in College
EmergeX
It’s not always easy to find committed and like-minded people that truly want the best for each other. EmergeX New Year’s Eve cruise features top experts to help you create a wealth mindset and develop a foundation for success.
“As millennials we shouldn’t have to wait until retirement to enjoy traveling around the world. There is so much to see, so much to explore and all of it has the potential to influence you not only as a person but as a powerful leader in your field as well. Why not take a cruise that allows you to travel and build your success as well?” -Terrease Aiken, Founder and CEO of EmergX Conferences
The 2018 EmergX voyage will lead participants from New Orleans into Cancun and the Yucatan. The conference will only run for about 4 hours each day, and the rest of your time is open for mingling, adventuring and catching up on your Vitamin D!
Meetup
MeetUp.com is not just for Moms! With over 8 million members in 100 countries, 65,000+ Organizers, 80,000+ Meetup Groups, and 50,000 Meetups are scheduled each week, millennials are bound to run into each other.
And if you don’t find an interesting event near you, it’s a great opportunity to become a trail blazer and create your own IRL experience. Meetups are a great place to get involved with your local community. Meetups help people make new friends, learn new things and be a part of something bigger. Powerful things happen (like new business ideas and lifelong friendships) when people unite and do what they love.
“Millennials should invest time in Meetups because it’s crucial to still connect with people. While it’s amazing to be able to connect with anyone anywhere in the world at the click of a button, nothing beats good old fashioned face to face interaction
to reignite the fire of service that you started your business for in the first place. When we connect in person, we are able to get to the root of problems so much quicker and deeper, so we can show up and serve better.” -Julia Rine, Empowerment Coach
So whether you want to go to Bali, Arizona, on a cruise, or just down the street, you have life changing opportunities awaiting you this year, millennials! Of course, investing in yourself for an evening or a week will bring massive returns. Entrepreneurs, We care about living with purpose, and growing your network “in real life” is exactly how we gain clarity on our life and improve your social health. Psychology Professor Thomas Gilovich from Cornell University found that experiences are the glue of our social lives, mattering much more than the latest i-gadget because: Experiential purchases enhance social relations more readily and effectively than material goods.
“People often think spending money on an experience is not as wise an investment as spending it on a material possession,” explained Gilovich. “They think the experience will come and go in a flash, and they’ll be left with little compared to owning an item. But in reality we remember experiences long afterward, while we soon become used to our possessions. At the same time, we also enjoy the anticipation of having an experience more than the anticipation of owning a possession.”
So let the anticipation begin, millennials! Where will your 2018 investment take you?
